As part of For You’s Artists & Elders project I had the amazing opportunity to interview and create a new DJ mix for “Disco” John Lind.
I’m excited to keep in touch with “Disco” John now that our formal engagement in the For You project together has concluded. We still have a lot to discuss and learn about each other. My favorite fun facts about him thus far, and in no particular order, are that:
During his years working on campaigns, he connected and worked with activists in the Black Panther Party.
He helped to start a well-established Tuesday evening social club at an Argentine craft beer bar called La Cervezaria Mateveza.
In high school, many of his friends from debate club were Ashkenazie Jews (like me!) who were descendants of Ukrainians who migrated up the Mississippi in the 1880s.
